HEIDELBERG GALLERY

Our Tourist Pictures

When we travel around I take some pictures with my phone.  These, however, are taken with the camera.  I get better pictures, although my Moto 5 phone gets good quality. I think it is important to pack a camera for a vacation.  I know people have phones where they can keep a LOT of pictures and get good quality.  I guess I did not want to invest in a high-end phone to get somewhat better pictures.

Our most recent trip to Germany included our first-ever stop in Heidelberg.  It is a university town with great tradition.  Nestled among the hills along the Neckar River it is quaint and picturesque.  For more on this trip check our narrative and more pictures on SERENDIPITY here or reblogged just below this photo gallery.

FRANKFURT ADVENTURE

Our Tourist Photos

Our trip to Germany and France included a stop over in Frankfurt. While there we did a lot of exploring on foot. Much to our surprise, it is a good city to see this way.  We took some short journeys on the city train to speed our adventure along.

Since we are good tourists, we took many pictures with a camera and phone.  I do not consider my phone a camera, although I admit I sometimes get very good pictures with my Moto5. These are from a Canon digital.  Be sure to click on any one of the pictures so you can see larger versions of each photo.

A TRIP TO ALSACE

Along the French and German border, a photo gallery

It’s time for a new adventure to France so I thought I would revisit a few of the pictures from a past trip.  I have made similar trips in recent years to sites in the Alsace region of France.  The reason for these trips is not just the scenery or historic sites.  It is something even more important.  This was explained on SERENDIPITY in “Where Would You Travel?”

One of my trips went from Chicago to New York with a five hour lay over.  I explained to my friend that spending vacation with him was the only reason I would spend 5 hours in JFK airport.  From there it was on to Frankfurt, Germany and a two hour lay over waiting for the Lufthansa bus to Strasbourg, France.  The bus arrived near the Strasbourg train station two and one half hours later.  There my friend collected me for our trip back to his town.

This time we will go by way of Paris and connect by train to Strasbourg.  The trip is just as long and we will go from Gare de l’Est.  There is a train from Charles De Gaulle airport direct to the Strasbourg station, but we wish to go into Paris for a day.  They did not have the train from the airport until recent years, so perhaps it is a better way to go.  Usually I let price and connection time determine which airport to use to go to Alsace, but my travel companions want to see Paris. One will see if for the first time.  We will go on Air Canada via Toronto to Paris. I have flown AC before, but only to Canada.
